Premier legal representation for parking and moving violations
Reckless driving serves as an umbrella term for all manners of dangerous driving behavior on the road.
It is important to understand what reckless driving looks like and what actions fall under the umbrella.
Vision Zero discusses the true dangers of reckless driving. Reckless driving in its many forms takes numerous lives and results in thousands of harmful car crashes every year across the nation.
One form of reckless driving includes drowsy driving. Though many people may not consider it as such, it is actually an extremely risky choice that results in many high-risk and fatal crashes due to the driver having the inability to react to dangers properly.
Texting while driving counts, too. Many distracted driving behaviors in general fall under this category, including eating or drinking while driving, or even simply engaging in conversation with passengers.
Intoxicated driving also serves as a form of reckless driving behavior. This is perhaps the most well-known one, considered reckless in particular due to the amount of information available showing why it is dangerous.
Speeding and tailgating also have a lot of recklessness involved in them. Speeding takes the ability to react precisely to surrounding dangers out of a driver’s hand and can increase a driver’s chance of crashing by as many as five times.
Tailgating and other aggressive driving behaviors also have the risk of provoking other drivers and resulting in road rage incidents, which can unfortunately get lethal quickly, especially these days.
The high risk of injury in any of these aforementioned situations is why reckless driving serves as such a problem.
