Summonses issued by the NYPD or NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) are OATH Cases. The fines for these tickets can range from $750 to over $10,000, depending on the infraction.

If you received a notice of a summons, you can look for it at this link: OATH Summons finder. You can also use the same link to search by name or address or company name.

On the roadway, charges may include involve the following topics:

  • Open excavation
  • Obstruction of traffic lanes or pedestrian traffic
  • Open manhole or utility cover
  • Construction materials placed on the street
  • Construction or Refuse containers dropped without a permit or without street protection

Many of the infractions are described in the NYC Administrative Code Part 19 (“Transportation). You can read the Code here at this link: NYC TRANSPORTATION LAW

Often, you have a permit for the activity in question, but you still get a Summons! It is possible the issuing officer could not locate the permit at the jobsite or digitally.

We have a successful track record of representing companies and individuals at OATH hearings and defending cases that arise on the Roadway.

Call our office today to how we can challenge your summons. Please have the summons number ready so we can look it up.
